The Most Influential Interiors Magazine of Its Generation

Apartamento launched in Barcelona in 2008 with a premise that sounds simple and proved revolutionary: show people's homes as they actually are. Not styled, not staged, not art-directed into submission — but lived in, loved, messy, personal, and real. Founded by Nacho Alegre and Marco Velardi, the biannual magazine debuted at Milan Design Week and has since become widely recognised as the most influential, inspiring, and honest interiors publication of its generation.

The magazine's subjects are artists, designers, musicians, writers, and creative people of all kinds, but the interiors are never the point — or rather, the interiors are always the way into the person. A stack of books on a kitchen table tells you more about someone than a biography. A worn sofa says more than a press release. Apartamento understood this from the first issue, and it changed the way an entire industry thinks about domestic space.

Now past its 36th issue and distributed in over 60 countries, with an editorial director in Robbie Whitehead and art direction by Angel Canovas, Apartamento has expanded into book publishing while maintaining the bookish, intimate, age-blind editorial sensibility that made it essential. magCulture has called it one of the leading lights of independent magazine publishing — and for once, the superlative is entirely deserved.
