A Biannual Invitation Into the World's Most Soulful Homes

Before Openhouse was a magazine, it was an apartment in the center of Barcelona. Co-founders Mari Luz Vidal and Andrew Trotter shared the space not just as roommates but as hosts — opening their doors to cultural events, dinners, and conversations with anyone who wanted to come in. That spirit of hospitality became the DNA of the biannual magazine they launched in 2014, with the slogan "The Life We Share."

Openhouse covers art, design, architecture, and culture, but its real subject is something harder to name: the feeling of a space that has been genuinely lived in. Each issue wanders mostly through Mediterranean landscapes — a Coderch masterpiece near Barcelona, Vincenzo de Cotiis' house in Pietrasanta, Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence — profiling creative people who share a philosophy of life rooted in tradition, nature, art, and identity. Now on its 24th issue, themed "The Matter of the Eternal," the magazine has grown into Openhouse Studio, a creative agency producing content for hotels, brands, and architects.

The magazine also published Living In, a book of thirty residential architecture masterpieces, in collaboration with Gestalten. But Openhouse at its core remains what it was from the beginning: an invitation to come in, sit down, and talk about what makes a space feel like home.
