Tape Op

The original subtitle, The Creative Music Recording Magazine, certainly still explains it best. Tape Op is all about learning how to produce outstanding recordings with whatever equipment you have available.

The magazine conducts interviews with notable recording engineers, producers, and artists. The authors sit down with them and have lengthy conversations with them before conducting lengthy, in-depth interviews. The reader, in essence, becomes the "tape op" hanging out in the studio, learning the trade from the seasoned vets working there.

Unlike other recording publications, the major emphasis of the publication is not on equipment reviews. The editor wants to talk about producing art.

Tape Op is about learning and being creative.
