SAND, a nonprofit literary journal distributed by an international team in Berlin, is published twice a year. A showcase of work by writers, translators, and artists around the world, SAND aims to bring to light perspectives that are underrepresented.

SAND was founded by Becky Crook in 2009. Since then, a large, evolving team has published over two thousand pages of visual art, fiction, nonfiction, and poetry (including translations) from over forty countries. The magazine has long focused on amplifying the voices of underrepresented people, including women, BIPOCs, LGBTQ+, disabled, working-class, internationally-based, and/or geographically marginalized writers and artists.
