Kazoo was founded in 2016, after the most successful journalism campaign in Kickstarter history. Since then, the magazine has received three straight Parents' Choice Gold Awards, as well as the National Magazine Award for General Excellence in 2019.
Kazoo recognizes girls aged 5 to 12 for being strong, intelligent, feisty, and genuine to themselves. Each ad-free 64-page issue is jam-packed with science, art, comics, games, crafts, recipes, stories — and inspiration. Because representation is important, the editors create all of the features with great female role models, such as scientists, artists, sportsmen, authors, chefs, leaders, and others.
