Sonshine Magazine was founded to examine the difficulties and rewards of parenting kind, intelligent, and compassionate (as well as loud, noisy, and amusing) boys. They don't have a prescription for this, but kids think that by changing how they see boyhood, they might begin to modify how they will experience adulthood.

Kirstie Beaven and Hayley Grove established Sonshine. They are authors, feminists, and parents of boys. They met while they were expecting their first child, but they truly connected through the year of hell that followed with two children under three, many housing changes, and what seemed like an endless winter. Sonshine fills a need that they discovered when teaching their sons that girls and boys are equal.
