i-D is a well-respected British fashion magazine that covers a wide range of topics, including fashion but also art, music, and youth culture.
The publication is well-known for its use of avant-garde photography and typography. Many well-known photographers, including as Nick Knight, Wolfgang Tillmans, Juergen Teller, and Ellen Von Unwerth, worked for i-D or were discovered as a result of their contributions to the publication.
i-D was established by Terry Jones in 1980 after he left British Vogue as Art Director in 1977 to pursue a career in music and hip-hop. Jones continues to serve as i-editor-in-chief. D's Instead of publishing eight times a year, Levelprint Ltd in London now publishes six times a year. In December of last year, Vice UK purchased Levelprint Ltd.
